The Wines Around the World Gala promises to be a great time in support of an excellent cause: Helping kids with cancer.

We recently caught up with Ashley Haseotes, President and co-Founder of One Mission, a childhood cancer foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Ashley has been going full speed ahead since SSW published a story on her last June. The latest event is the Wines Around the World Gala sponsored by Marty’s Fine Wines of Newtonville. The gala will take place on Thursday November 18, 2010 at The Boston Harbor Hotel’s Wharf Room.

Ashley and Erika Siegal, a One Mission Board member and co-owner of Marty’s Fine Wines, took some time out of their busy schedules to give us an update on One Mission and a glimpse into what will be happening at the upcoming gala.

SSW: How has One Mission grown or changed in the last year?

Ashley: We have made such strides in every area. One Mission has increased its ability to give and made great impacts on hospitals dedicated to pediatric cancer research and care. Internally we have two new directors, more corporate sponsors and we are becoming well known in the region!

SSW: How much money has your many fund-raisers generated in the last year to help pediatric cancer research and to help the families?

Ashley: One Mission raised $260,000 dollars last year, with a cost ration of under 20%. We have over $50,000 to research and $145,000 towards programs and services that include birthday parties for patients and pizza nights for families.

SSW: How did Marty's Fine Wines get involved with One Mission?

Ashley: I met Sean and Erika Siegal at the pediatrician's office three years ago and we became fast friends. Generous in heart and creative in their involvement, they were eager to become involved with our cause. Erika now sits on the One Mission board and Marty's Fine Wines is an official sponsor of One Mission's Wines Around the World Gala this November 18th.

SSW: What can guests expect to experience at the upcoming gala?

Ashley: Guests can expect an evening that is elegant and fun. The gala's location, at The Boston Harbor Hotel, will make for a beautiful night and all for an amazing cause.

Erika: We have curated 75 wines from across the globe, representing all of the world's major wine regions. I kept an eye for wines that guests will want to enjoy not only that night but also over the holidays. The gala is a fantastic way to discover wines that will translate to holiday dinners and parties.

SSW:  Ashley and Erika, any general messages for the SouthShoreWoman readers?

One Mission is continuously amazed by the generosity of people in the New England community; the non-profit has seen an intersection of really great people in industries of hospitality, wine, sports and all for pediatric cancer. It is so rewarding and we love creating events that guests will have a great time at. Check out our website for volunteer opportunities and upcoming events! www.one-mission.org.
